Northern metro suburbs to gain new fishing jetty at Quinns Rocks

In exciting news for shore fishers in Perth’s northern suburbs – the Fisheries Minister Jackie Jarvis has unveiled the City of Wanneroo’s plans for a new 17.3m-long fishing jetty in Quinns Rock.

Expected to be ready to fish by early 2027, the four-metre wide jetty, including several fishing-enhancing features will extend out of the groyne adjacent to the Frederick Stubbs Park.

Recfishwest fishing jetties and platforms program lead Levi De Boni said the jetty would be a welcome addition to the northern suburbs fishing landscape.

“Recfishwest campaigned hard for more fishing jetties as part of our 2025 state election manifesto and it’s good to see the Government progressing its election commitment for a jetty at Quinns Rock,” said Levi.

“We also welcome the City of Wanneroo taking on our input into the jetty’s design, which includes practical fishing features like a fish cleaning station with a solar powered saltwater tap and lighting.

“There was a strong community appetite for a new jetty in this area and it’s great to see local fishers will have a quality new spot to wet a line for popular species such as herring, tailor, whiting and squid.

“Jetties provide great value to local communities and I know myself as a former ‘jetty rat’ growing up that every kid deserves a local jetty they can cast a line from.”

A brand new jetty is always a welcome addition to the local fishing landscape and northern metro suburbs fishers will be looking forward to next year when they get the chance to wet a line of this great new platform.

With our partner Fishability’s input into the design, the fishing platform has been designed for full accessibility and will feature ModWood decking, seating and handrails with lowered sections to accommodate all users.

Jetties play a vital role in making fishing more accessible, often serving as the first-place people learn to fish while providing access to deeper water and a broader range of species.

On behalf of WA’s 750,000 recreational fishers, Recfishwest will continue to advocate for investment in fishing infrastructure that expands access and delivers better fishing experiences for the community.
