New Augusta Marina a Win for Rec Fishers
- New marina allows safer boating facilities for rec fishers
- Greater access to better recreational fishing in the South West region
The new Augusta Marina is now open for business and provides safe boat launching facilities and a greater tourism boost to this already popular fishing and boating region.
Recfishwest’s CEO Dr Andrew Rowland said a new marina in this region is a win for the recreational fishing and boating community.
“Having access to safer boating facilities will provide the town of Augusta with a boost in local tourism, including rec fishers travelling to the area to catch iconic South Coast species such as Salmon, Pink Snapper and Dhufish” Dr Rowland said.
The $34.6 million project, funded through the WA State Government’s Royalties for Regions program, includes four new boat launching ramps along with 160 vehicles with trailer spaces, increasing the access recreational fishers have to quality fishing grounds.
Development of more recreational boating facilities around the state is crucial in ensuring communities have safe access to more enjoyable fishing experiences.
