Salmon Slam is back for 2024!

Scanning waves off  epic southern beaches for large black patches, launching lures out the back of the surf and doing spectacular battle with tough-fighting fish – yep, it’s salmon time again!

It’s also time to kick off another Salmon Slam – the FREE app-based fishing competition dedicated to these southern pleagic powerhouses – giving anglers a chance to bag a swag of great prizes! See below for more details.

And with salmon stocks in healthier condition than in decades, this year’s competition promises to be a doozer – so get ready to hit the beaches and help celebrate a southern icon!

This year Western Angler is taking over the reins of  the competition with Recfishwest’s support – but the format is pretty much the same.

Salmon is a great fish for all the family to have a crack at!

This year’s competition will run from 1 March to 31 May – to enter simply download the free Salmon Slam app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Note: Because the app developers have updated the app with a new version, it is recommended to delete last year’s version of the app if you have it and upload the new version.

Catch your salmon then take a picture of it on a brag mat or next to a tape measure with length clearly visible in the photo and with the code Slam 2024 written in the sand or on a bit of a paper . Upload the pic to the app and you’re in the running!

There’s also a prize for the best photo with anglers posing with their trophy fish – if you’re entering in  this category make sure you follow Recfishwest’s fish photo tips – click here to learn more.

Scott Coghlan, Western Angler Editor and good friend of Recfishwest, has created a dedicated Western Angler Salmon Slam 2024 Facebook page – if you’re on Facebook  have a look and give it a like – there’s some great content to be found on the page with some great salmon fishing tips.
