The Statistics Behind the 2019 Swanfish

This years 2019 Swanfish trumped the 2018 competition in every way! We saw more app users catch more fish, with over half of those registered in this years event catching a fish! There was also an extra five species caught this year compared to 2018 and lets not forget the huge 16 kg mulloway that was caught!

The information behind each years Swanfish events helps to reflect the growth of the event as well as track the number and type of fish being caught over the course of the weekend. The species composition of what was caught (figure 2) is also quite interesting, it demonstrates what fish were caught the most for each fisher. Black bream were the most commonly caught species, closely followed by tailor. These fish are key recreational species that many fishers frequently target throughout the year.
