Catch More Fish, Catch Less Sun! Hooked Gear Teams up With Recfishwest

Recfishwest and local WA family-owned business Hooked Gear, have teamed up to encourage kids and families across WA to ‘Get Hooked’ on sun safe fishing.

For over 20 years the Recfishwest SunSmart Fishing Clinic Program has reached over 40,000 fishing kids and their families, from Wyndham to Esperance. Proudly funded by Healthway, the sessions promote the SunSmart messages whilst enjoying fishing and the benefits of being outside and off the couch. As a new partner, Hooked Gear has the same clear values around protecting yourself from harmful UV exposure when you are enjoying the outdoors.

Hooked Gear specialises in sun safe outdoor adventure wear for the whole family. Check out their range here.

Paul Morris, Owner/Founder of Hooked Gear said it is well documented that exposure to UV radiation at an early age increases the likelihood of skin cancer.

“With the harsh Australian conditions, recreational fishers are at a high risk of exposure, so ensuring you have sun protection is a must,” says Paul.

Hooked Gear products are currently available through the ‘Sunsafe Clothing’ tab on the Fish and Survive web page.  Now when kids attend any of the sessions under the Recfishwest Fishing Clinic Program, they will have the opportunity to win a Hooked Gear shirt, hat or buff.

Recfishwest CEO Dr Andrew Rowland is really pleased to build on our relationship with this popular local WA family business.

“Hooked Gear fits very well with our fishing clinic partner Healthway, promoting the SunSmart message and we’re rapt to have great partners on-board looking after West Aussie kids,” said Dr Rowland.

“As a not-for-profit organisation it’s important to have partners who share our values and align with our vision of ensuring safe, sustainable, accessible and enjoyable fishing opportunities for the community forever.”
