Keep up to date on South Coast Marine Parks with Recfishwest updates

We were on the South Coast last week talking to local fishers like Mitchell Waideman and hearing their concerns about the State Government’s South Coast Marine Parks proposals.

Hear what Esperance Land Based Fishing Club President Mitchell Waideman has to say on some of the proposed no fishing zones in the marine parks proposals in the video below.

Over the next few months, we will be doing all we can to ensure we get the best outcome possible in protecting access to important fishing spots, like Warrenup Beach in the video.

If you have a strong interest in this issue, please sign up for our South Coast Marine Park updates by clicking on the link below to receive all the latest news and information from Recfishwest.

What we have been hearing from the local community is an understandable mix of confusion, frustration and disappointment over some parts of the plans that are threatening to ban fishing on beaches and areas in the ocean fished by generations.

Understandably many people are feeling fired up over the proposals, however, there are four months to make a submission and there’s no need to rush. To assist with the submission process, we are currently putting together guidelines, which we will be making available on our website soon. You can hear from our CEO Dr Andrew Rowland regarding the submission process in the video below.
