Spearfishing – Shallow Water Blackouts

Spearfishing and freediving can be incredible activities to engage in, but like all fishing activities, its no good if you don’t live to tell the tale.

Australian Underwater Federation (AUF) have refreshed its Spearsafe campaign with the aim to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities occurring all over Australia associated with spearfishing.

It doesn’t matter where you are located, the messages are all the same:

  • Dive with a friend and stay within comfortable limits of one another;
  • Dive well within your limits, don’t push yourself, no fish is worth your life; and,
  • Dive with a rig cord and float attached.

WATCH: AUF’s shallow water blackout video!

Visit the AUF website for more spearfishing-related safety information.
